I am Shawna Sellers,and I am the multi-site Assistant Director for the Arlington area! I am so excited to join The Merit School family and begin my journey with you all.
I have a B.A. in Mass Communications from Virginia State University. I have been in the field of early childhood education since 2010 after completing my CDA in preschool. I have a wide range of teaching experience from Montessori; public and private schools; head start; and implementing reggio theories of learning – where my main focus was ages 3-5. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is one of my favorite books and my favorite colors are blue and black. I love to sing and dance- especially after having a cup of coffee!
I firmly believe that children learn best through play and cooperative learning experience. I have absolutely loved teaching throughout the years because it gave me the unique opportunity to write, sketch, color, draw, paint, and design the minds of the children who will have an influence on our future world.
I look forward to this new and exciting challenge and I’m here to help and support the families, schools, staff, and management in any way possible!
